About Infopop

Infopop is the leader in community technology for web sites. From downloadable message boards like UBB.classic and UBB.threads to hosted solutions like the eve community platform, Infopop has proven expertise in online community technology. Privately-held and profitable, Infopop has been serving customers since 1996.

Our History

The company took root in 1996 with the release of the Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB), now called UBB.classic, a product which would pioneer much of the functionality and overall look and feel that is standard in most discussion forum software today. In 1999, Infopop established its headquarters in Seattle, Washington.

In the summer of 2000, Infopop debuted OpenTopic, its first hosted discussion forum software. OpenTopic was a Java application that utilized XML and XSL. In 2001, Infopop acquired WWWThreads, a PHP-based, downloadable message board and renamed it UBB.threads. Also in 2001, Infopop was named one of the 35 "Best Places to Work" in Washington State by Seattle Magazine.

In 2002, Infopop unveiled a full-service hosting service that included its new UBB.x discussion forum software. UBB.x was a variation of OpenTopic.

In January 2004, Infopop released eve, a hosted community platform for web sites designed to give total control over all installed modules (applications). Initial eve modules included UBB.x, Chime (chat), and Thrive, a turnkey premium membership management service. An API will be released later in 2004 that allows outside developers to integrate their applications in eve.
